Description

After the "Raptor Flyby" show is done, Ms Hernandez (or whomever the trainer is for that particular day) and the Ferruginous Hawk (or whatever raptor is being displayed) answer questions from the audience. Well, Ms Hernandez fields the questions--the bird just sits and watches everyone.

This is a great time to get close-up shots of the whatever bird is being displayed. You can get quite close to the bird, providing you don't alarm it, and heed whatever the trainer tells you to do.

In my case, I opted not to use a tripod and keep a respectful distance (about 6-10 feet) from the bird, so as not to startle it. This photo, and the ones that follow, were either taken with a Nikkor 70-210 zoom, or the Nikon E5700 built-in lens.
