Description

This fenced footpath leads to the Cape Blanco Pioneer Cemetery. The grassy area it encloses once contained the church that the Hughes family built, "Mary, Star of the Sea". Family and friends were buried in the area around the church.

The church is no longer there, and the remains of those interred in the cemetery have long since been removed. All that remains are a half-dozen gravestones.

The headstone for family patriarch, Patrick Hughes, stands alone at the far end of the cemetery.
