Description

A view from the bottom of Golden Falls, at Golden and Silver Falls State Natural Area near Allegany in Oregon.

I think this is one of the first times I became aware of how my age had begun to limit my mobility. I wanted to get closer to the falls, but there was no longer any trail, and I would therefore have to scramble over the large boulders ahead of me. Not only would that be hard to do, it would be harder to do than I remember being able to do a dozen years ago. I also knew that my bones weren't as strong as they once were, and I was in a very remote area. If I broke something the consequences could be bad. Therefore, I decided that a closer photograph was not worth the risks.
