Description

Small and isolated, Wild Goose Island floats out on St. Mary's Lake in Montana's Glacier National Park. Barely large enough to support several trees, the island is named after two star-crossed Indian lovers who were turned into geese by the Great Spirit, so they could fly away beyond the cultural differences of their respective tribes and live together forever.

The island is framed in this image by several large pine trees against a majestic backdrop of mountain peaks beneath a dark blue sky. Most of the peaks are obscured by the branches of the evergreens, except for Dustystar which is just to the left of the island
