Description

I spent some time watching the California Sea Lions (Zalophus californianus) on the rocks below the North Cove Trail at Arago State Park in Oregon. It's breeding season, but I didn't see any pups. Everyone was mostly snoozing, with the males occasionally waking up, bellowing out their presence, followed by a group chorus of barking and carrying on, and then everyone going back to snoozing for a few minutes.

This fellow decided it was time for a well-deserved scratch break between the raucous choir sessions.
