Description

Small and isolated, Wild Goose Island floats out on St. Mary's Lake in Montana's Glacier National Park. Barely large enough to support several trees, the island is named after two star-crossed Indian lovers who were turned into geese by the Great Spirit, so they could fly away beyond the cultural differences of their respective tribes and live together forever.

A majestic backdrop of mountain peaks beneath a dark blue sky lie beyond the tiny island surrounded by the strikng aquamarine waters of the lake. Those mountain peaks are, starting from the left, Little Chief, Mahtotopa, Dusty Star, Fusillade, and finally on the right, Going To The Sun mountain.
