Description

The clear turquoise waters of St. Mary's Falls, swollen by snow melt, thunder 40 feet down over two rock tiers before resuming their normal flow out toward St. Mary's Lake in Glacier National Park.

Coarse white lichens and soft green mosses cling to the red, purple, and orange rocks of the wet canyon walls.

Overhead, towering evergreens line the rim of this gorge, their tall brown trunks and green needles piercing a deep blue sky punctuated with puffy white clouds.
