Description

The Lavender Pit copper mine in Bisbee, Arizona, was once one of the largest open pit mines in the world and also the source of world famous Bisbee Blue turquoise.

Mining operations in the pit ceased in 1974, after reaching a depth of 900 feet (274 m).
