Bison Grazing

A close-up of a large bull Bison (Bison bison) grazing on a hillside at Lamar Valley in Yellowstone National Park. The herd was slowly moving down from the higher elevations toward the valley floor, periodically stopping to graze here and there.

Being up on the hillside enables a photographer to get a nice low point of view on these magnificent creatures. Unfortunately, the sun is also peeking over the top of the same hillside, creating some strong shadows that need to be compensated for.
