Description

A Painted Redstart (Myioborus pictus) perched in an Oak tree at Brown Canyon in the Huachuca Mountains of Southeastern Arizona.

These are skittish little birds, flying in pairs and chasing each other about through the trees. When they do decide to perch they don't sit still very long. Even when feeding on the ground, they hop from spot to spot. That being said, they sometimes perch on a limb or tree trunk right next to you so always be ready for an unexpected closeup.
